atsec information security and the University of Texas are partnering for a day-long cybersecurity bootcamp, with both in-person and remote options. As the founder of the International Cryptographic Module Conference (ICMC), host of the Cryptographic Module User Forum (CMUF), and major contributor to the technical communities surrounding the FIPS 140-3 standard, atsec has strived to provide useful resources to the IT security community and we are excited to extend this to academia and the next generation of experts.

The University of Texas Computer Science (UTCS) department is highly ranked worldwide and respected for its strength in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics, quantum computing and security - to name a few, and a record number of Computer Science undergraduates earn Research Recognition. We are excited to use our leadership in the industry to bring them into contact with a field where cybersecurity and cryptographic competence is in high demand.

Conferences can be prohibitively expensive to attend, so we decided to bring expert industry knowledge to the campus environment and make it easily accessible for students – plus, we’ll provide ways to connect students and cybersecurity practitioners. We hope this will help students to turn their talent into a new career and the industry to build its future workforce.

This event is free for all participants. We aim to provide a fresh look on the latest changes to ISO/IEC 19790, which were published on February 25th 2025. This international standard is the core of FIPS 140-3 and the revision will have profound impacts on the cryptographic module community. It's crucial for stakeholders to understand the changes as early as possible, especially for chip vendors so they can plan to adopt the necessary updates early due to their longer development cycles compared to software products.

We are looking forward to a great line-up of expert speakers who will deliver insights from both academic and industry perspectives. Panel discussions, breaks, and a dedicated time slot for networking and recruiting will give participants ample opportunity to meet their peers and potential future colleagues.
