atsec Adds GSMA MDSCert Evaluations to its Service Offerings

As an accredited Information Technology Security Evaluation Facility (ITSEF), atsec is excited to announce that our test laboratory will provide evaluations under the Mobile Device Security Certification Scheme (MDSCert), a new certification initiative by GSMA. With our extensive experience in security testing and evaluation, we offer mobile device assessments under all three security assurance levels defined in the MDSCert Scheme:

  • Security Assurance Level 1 (Verified Self-Assessment)
  • Security Assurance Level 2 (Functional Test + Documentation Review)
  • Security Assurance Level 3 (Level 2 + Penetration Test)

atsec has already successfully completed pilot projects with multiple mobile device vendors, demonstrating our expertise and readiness to support full-scale evaluations.

In launching MDSCert, GSMA seeks to ensure security for mobile devices consumers rely on for critical services like banking, healthcare, and communication by setting a clear and consistent security benchmark. You can find the official announcement about it on GSMA’s website.

As cyber threats continue to evolve, the launch of this certification scheme marks a significant milestone in mobile security by ensuring consumer devices meet high security standards to counter those threats. Undergoing evaluation and certification will enhance user trust, comply with global security expectations, and demonstrate commitment to delivering secure products – all valuable things for mobile device vendors these days!

If you are a mobile device manufacturer looking to certify your products under this new scheme, atsec’s team is ready to assist you. Take a look at our Mobile Device Certification page to learn how atsec can support your evaluation journey and to get in touch.
